James E. Nelson is a proud Memphian. He is a graduate of Carver High School, American Baptist College, and he received his Master of Arts Degree from Memphis Theological Seminary. Nelson’s thesis centered on “How to Disciple Black Millennials.”
James retired from the City of Memphis in 2015. He served as the Mayors Assistant and as the Director of Youth Services in the Administration of Mayor A C Wharton, Jr. He serves now as the District Family Engagement Specialist for Shelby County Schools. James has served in leadership in several ministries. He recently served Greater White Stone Missionary Baptist Church. He served as an associate minister, advisor to the young adults, and the Director of Christian Education. He also, served as the Executive Director of the Stone Community Development Corporation, the non-profit arm of Greater White Stone Missionary Baptist Church. |
